As of late, I’ve been meditating on Jeremiah 1:5. This is such a familiar verse and frequently quoted. However, just recently, my eyes caught something that settled within my soul, I would like to share such with you. The scripture of reference goes like this…
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” I could stop here, but I would like to take it a bit further with the next few verses as the young prophet Jeremiah and God shares a few more words.

Psalm 1:1-3 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Have you ever wondered, Lord when is it my turn? Or, Lord, why is it that those who are not following your will are excelling at almost everything they do?
I know I have. There was a time in my walk where I was ready to call it quits. I was ready to go back to old behaviors and pleasures to ‘feel’ as if I’m doing something with my life. At that time, it seemed as if everyone around me were having fun and living, while I, on the other hand, gets called; and I quote, ‘grandma’ boring and goodie-to-shoes... Don’t laugh... If I could be honest for a moment, to me, it wasn’t fair. I couldn’t understand why as a child of God, I wasn’t excelling in certain areas of my life……. Okay, so if you stuck along for this entire ‘faith-ride’ kudos to you, faith is yours! Now, on the contrary, I know you’re probably wondering ‘why did we have a 3-month long Faith series?' Truth-be-told, the answer is easy, ‘God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith.' In a nutshell, we as Christian believers who believe in God are charged to a higher degree of exuding and exercising faith. We must not only say we have faith, but rather believe and embody faith as it pertains to belief, healing, confidence, hope, and peace.
And He said to her, ‘Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.’ The text of our observation shows an immediate response of Jesus, once the woman with the issue of blood came to the altar. Though in Luke 8:46-48 there’s no mention of a physical altar, the woman with the issue of blood presented herself before the altar of Christ. This resulted in her complete and total healing. If we continue to examine this situation, we would see how the exposure of this women resulted in her faith-based peace.
Exposure: Have you ever had a physical condition or an internal conflict that needed healing or addressing? Often, those areas of our lives can produce tons of shame and feelings of inadequacy. At times, this level of vulnerability can cause us to hide. It also causes us to question God with thoughts like: “Lord, why me?” “how long will this infirmity last” “will I ever get relief” “will I ever make Looking at scripture, Hebrews 11:1 says, “now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In our previous blog, Faith that Produces … Series, we detailed the meaning and power of faith, as it pertains to Hebrews 11:1. Today, we’re going to highlight hope as it connects to your faith.
I believe it's safe to say that at some point or another – if not every day – you've had your hope in something or someone. This longing, this hope is a natural element that everyone experience. In your Confidence He’s Faithful
So, a few weeks ago the Spirit woke me up to a song titled, ‘A Great Work’ by Brian Courtney Wilson. At the time, that song was the last thing I wanted to hear. I was frustrated, waiting, waiting and still waiting on the Lord, to the point that my confidence in what I heard was slipping. I believed God, but unlike the lady whom we mentioned in the last blog, my resilience and persistence in faith fizzled out. I did everything in my strength to rebel against the nudges of the Lord. I avoided that song, sulked in my frustrations and pretty much did Jesus like Martha, I blamed Him. It seemed as if my faith-based confidence was useless and unnecessary to hold on, especially after another year of unfilled promises. But A Great Work. Healing is your God-given birthright:
Many acts in the Bible highlight Jesus' healing powers. If you take notice, almost all healing miracles are done through faith. Ex. Mark 5:25-32 highlights an event where a woman had a flow of blood for twelve years. In her strength, she tried everything for the sake of being cured. However, nothing seemed to work. Knowing that Jesus was in town, she dared to touch him. The woman with an issue of blood touched his garment and was healed immediately. Wow, what kind of faith? Jesus, knowing that virtue left His body, that is, the virtue that can only come from desperate faith – asked who touched Him. The woman admitted that in her desperation, she touched Him. Jesus' responded, "daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.” In the previous blog, ‘Faith that produces… Series' we broke down the meaning, power, and definition of faith. Should we want to apply faith into our lives powerfully, it's important to understand the depths of it. However, where many of us fall short, is knowing how to apply learned knowledge to our everyday lives. We are fully capable of using faith-based scriptures, though, in times of needing to apply it to our lives, we stumble. We stumble with thoughts of disbelief, feelings of inadequacy, over analyzing and even questioning whether God will ‘do it’ for you.
There’s something to be said about the faith we’re carrying. I say ‘we’ because I’m not exempt. In Fact, this blog is written mainly for me. If you just so happened, to relate than continue reading, and please do share.
Faith, in my opinion, is the most overly used word, with no real understanding nor depth to back its definition. We as believers should analyze the true meaning of faith and apply it to our lives, action, language and even our thought process. The moment we allow the true definition and power of faith to resonate within our soul will be the moment when we're no longer bound by circumstantial evidence. Tell me, I really want to know what’s in your hand? Look at it. What do you see?
With the craze of social media and reality TV, everyone is fighting to find their identity, purpose and even gather the strength to know that they’re more than enough. This is a fight for owning your purpose. This fight is one of the biggest fights that you'll ever undergo! It's daunting, painful, embarrassing at times, frustrating and it even feels as if you're in a constant battle which you can't seem to grasp. But you must grit the game. I know you may feel a bit inadequate and unsure of what your life may entail in the next few years. I want to ensure you–your life is so purposeful. Knowing You’re More Than Enough, will give you the tools that are needed so that you too can own your purpose. These tools are not just any tools, they’re special tools. But these tools will require you to fight. One thing I know about fights is that should you win, you must get in the game and know what’s in your hand. |
