Okay, so if you stuck along for this entire ‘faith-ride’ kudos to you, faith is yours! Now, on the contrary, I know you’re probably wondering ‘why did we have a 3-month long Faith series?' Truth-be-told, the answer is easy, ‘God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith.' In a nutshell, we as Christian believers who believe in God are charged to a higher degree of exuding and exercising faith. We must not only say we have faith, but rather believe and embody faith as it pertains to belief, healing, confidence, hope, and peace. Now, this is not to say that we won't have doubt or fear, no, that's far from that. It's nearly impossible to say that we as humans won't be afraid or even doubtful. However, our faith is the substance that drives out fear and doubt. Why? Because the perfect love cast out all fear. The perfect love of Christ that was given to us, by faith, is what drives out fear. Our faith and trust in God are the catalysts to all things possible. I know it’s easier to say we have faith, especially when times and seasons are not producing what we hope and believe. Therefore, before we close out this faith journey series, I would like to equip you with tools for building and increasing your faith. After all, the just shall live by faith and as we grow in Christ we go from faith to faith! How to live by faith 1. But where’s your tablet? What does Scripture say? - “Therefore, you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” – Deuteronomy 11:18 The Word of God is the first and foremost guide and assurance. As you read His word, you understand and know His voice. This is important because this is the very foundation of faith. John 1 says that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. To make it plain, the Word of God is JESUS CHRIST. The testimony of Jesus is written and found throughout the Bible. However, the Word of God does not end there – How sweet is that? The Word of God, the will of God extends greater than we may realize, Therefore, having the foundation of His Word planted in our hearts and souls will equip us with the faith and assurance of trusting the voice of God. After all, knowing the voice of God and Faith comes hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. 2. Who are you seeking? What does Scripture say? – “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise.” – Proverbs 12:15 It's facts, the Word of God is given to us as a guide. However, the Lord has also appointed many counsels to equip and impart wisdom, knowledge, and faith into us. Many believe that seeking counsel invalidates them and shows levels of weak faith. On the contrary, it shows humility, maturity and the ability to walk out on God-given faith. Seeking wise counsel is apart of fulfilling God's will, after all, we know that when two or more are gathered, God is in the midst. While abiding in the faith of God, seeking wise counsel (which does not have a ‘formal’ appearance or title) is a key essential to increasing and improving your faith in God. 3. Fellowship of the brethren
What does Scripture say? – “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:25 When it comes to walking out this ‘faith' journey, we need our brothers and sisters. Fellowship and being among other like-minded believers keep the fuel to our faith burning. When we are around like-minded believers, it sharpens us as iron, keeps us on our toes and motivates us to remain walking for Christ. It's very common for believers to walk in isolation. However, I want to encourage you to remain plugged in with others, there's no ‘right' or ‘wrong' way to this. Being plugged in could mean having one person who shares in the same faith, and you both motivate and encourage each other, or hundreds of others who are in your corner. The key to building your faith in the Lord is to remain connected. 4. Above all else, Seek God FIRST! What does Scripture say? – “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33 Above all else, seek GOD first. Having the heart and mind to seek and please God above all, produces the heart and will of God in your life. When you are motivated and driven by Him, your actions produce His will, in exchange, your faith is found in Him. 5. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and all thine soul What does Scripture say? – "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." & "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor His descendants begging bread." Proverbs 3:5; Psalms 37:25 Trusting in the Lord with full and total faith can be hard. This is a daily activity that we as believers must do. An assurance of faith is knowing that as a child of God who is actively pursuing righteousness; you won’t be forsaken. When it comes to the term ‘righteousness’ let’s be clear: “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God!” Righteousness is, making a conscious decision to live a life that is wholly and acceptable to God which is your reasonable service (the bare minimum). As child of God who’s living a life towards total righteousness, your trust should be in the Lord, knowing that you are His and He will never leave you nor forsake you, for many have been young, and many have been old, yet never have they seen the righteous forsaken for His child begging bread. Choose today to make a conscious decision to pursue faith with a passion! Your faith in Jesus Christ is your anchor, shield, and guide!
