And she says… Send for me, Barak! - (Based on Judges 4) There he is, a man of authority, walking with his chin up, yet with his shoulders down, contemplating his journey with thoughts running through his mind. As Barak proceeds towards Deborah, I can only imagine what he's feeling. Perhaps joy, because God has a specific tailor-made word for him? Or could it be fear, since he’s been called out of his hiding place? As we read Judges 4, we find out that Deborah, a prophetess, and Judge of Israel, has
called and summonsed Barak; a commander, one whom God has chosen to help remove the oppression from Israel.
However, Deborah gives Barak a Word from the Lord, that was intended to propel him, and clothe him with confidence so that he can walk in authority... He did the exact opposite. Just when Barak thought he was exempt from any warfare, God has instructed him, through the mouth of Deborah to rally all his troops, get his armor ready and go out to war. Israel’s oppressor will be delivered into his hands. Naturally, when we hear a grand command like this, we are filled with excitement and bubbled with joy, not because of the task that’s at hand, but for the fact that God sees us fit and fully capable of completing an assignment that can literally move mountains and change generations!
Yes, we assume to respond to God’s will according to His instructions. Mentally, we gird ourselves, and we are armed and ready.
However, along the road to our journey, we find ourselves in a way to be as Barak. As we keep reading, we notice that Barak allows the frightening thoughts of war and confrontation to override the prophetic declaration that was spoken over his life. Barak chooses to settle; he suggests a compromise. “If you {Deborah} will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go” Judges 4:8, NKJV. I wonder at what point did Barak allow fear to take precedence over what God has instructed him to do? I also wonder, what have YOU allowed to take precedence over what God has instructed you to do? Like Barak, it’s very easy to allow the process towards our purpose to frighten us. I’m sure there will be many giants and obstacles such as; fear, opposition, doubt, and pride, to say the least, that may potentially hinder you, if not, try to deter you from reaching your God-given Purpose. It’s important that when God speaks, we move! Even if what we’ve heard, sounds outlandish or impossible. When God gives us a promise, He does not always queue us in, on the process. The process to our purpose is not supposed to hinder us, but rather equip and strengthen us so that as we walk into our purpose, we have the capacity to sustain it and honor Him with it! My prayer for you is that you will not shy away as Barak, who had to hand over his promise (glory) to a female, because of his fear and disobedience, but instead you will walk boldly to whatever it is that God is calling you to do. Your FAITH IS bigger than fear **** I urge you, When God Speaks, You Move! There are nations, connected to your 'YES'. You may not always know how, why, or what the process will look. You may even have one heck of a fight before you. But that's ok! Through, sweat, tears, blood and desperation, peace, and joy. Walk with your chin up, and your shoulder wide, for God’s plans are to “give you peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11,NKJV) ~Stay Bless, Stress Less, Read your Bible~ Hey Remnants, Rise!
