Just recently, my name was brought up in a conversation that was blown out of proportion. This conversation could slander my conduct, motives, and morale. As a result, I became filled with so many emotions, and my first thoughts were to 'cover' my name and vouch for me. However, I knew by the Spirit of God that I was not supposed to speak or move without seeking God nor seeking counsel. Therefore, I confided in one of my dear friends, and I was encouraged to …. Turn the other cheek! (SERIOUSLY??— Mind blown!)
Initially, I was not having it! I had every reason why I should not turn the other cheek, but rather speak my mind and 'plead my case.' However, after continual prayer and seeking the Lord, I realized there was absolutely nothing I can do or say that will change men's heart or their perceived perspective. The best and wisest decision I could make is to sit and allow God to handle the situation.
You see, my thoughts were to speak my peace and lay everything out on the table so that my true intentions could be heard and realized. However, God is saying that doing it that way will only make matters worse and bring glory to me. God wants the glory, so God will handle it.
The Word of God in Romans 12:17-21 says, “17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing, you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Just as my friend encouraged me, I want to encourage you.
There will be many instances where your name may be smeared in such a way that it is entirely opposite of your character and motives. During these times, you may be tempted to speak your peace and hash it out. —Now, I am not going to tell you not to speak your peace. Instead, I want to encourage you to put aside your emotions, seek the Father, and allow the Lord to go before you and clear your name and your path. After all, God's vengeance and seal of approval are far better than what we can bring.
Today, our Prophetic Decree is a prayer activation:
Dear Heavenly Father,
In Jesus' name, I submit my cares to you. Lord, Your Word in Matthew 11:30 tells me Your yoke is easy, and Your burden is light. Therefore, in Jesus' name, I will take up Your peace and care. I will walk and faith and trust Your will. God, in Jesus' name, I thank You for all that You have done in my life. Father, I ask that You continue to go before me and clear my past and vindicate me in Jesus' name. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.
