In our last blog ‘Discovering God’s Love’ we discussed the topic of discovering God’s love from the perspective of a believer who’ve encountered someone that’s still in the process of searching for God’s love. Our topic included pointers on how to confidently assist those who are still in the ‘discovery’ phase of their journey. In this blog, we’ll cover discovering God’s love from the perspective of someone who is still searching for God’s love. This person could be a backslider, unbeliever, someone who is unsure about their salvation or someone who desires to go deeper in their relationship with Christ. Whoever you are and whatever circumstances you’re in, we want you to Still, Discover God’s Love. Early in my walk with Christ, there was a moment where I only committed my body to The Lord. I no longer wanted to give myself to different men, so I vowed to abstain from sex and remain sexually pure until the day of my marriage. At this point, I was not ready to give up drinking and partying. Therefore, I continued to bask in the pleasures that environment brought. I justified drinking and smoking by saying things like, I only partake in social settings, or, once in a blue moon won’t hurt. There was one night where I went out and had every drink, I could get my hands on. Before this night, I was on ‘break' from partying and drinking. Because it had been such a while since I've been out; naturally, I played ‘catch up.' My game of catch up, caught up with me the next morning as I was preparing for class. In the process of brushing my teeth, I vomited which was strange and unheard of. I had such a high tolerance level for drinking, so high I could finish an entire bottle and remain fully functional. As I finished preparing myself, I immediately called my friend at the time and told her the shocking news. She agreed that was strange, but the following ‘unspoken’ remarks were breathtaking. During the middle of our conversation the Holy Spirit dropped a scripture into my heart that forever changed my life. Luke 11:24- 26 states, "24 When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ 25 And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. 26 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that man is worse than the first.” – While regurgitating alcohol is pretty common, for me it was unheard of. Therefore, when the Lord dropped that scripture into my heart, I knew I had to get my act together or else, I'll be in bad shape. Now, to make a long story short, two weeks later I finally committed my entire life back to Christ. In my heart of hearts, I truly believed that moment was an unveiling of God's love for me. To be completely wasted and hungover and yet experience the grappling pull of our Savior calling me out of my darkness and into the light meant that no one is too far for our God. His loves is reckless and care for us so deeply that He sent His Son Jesus Christ, into the pig pen and into the depths of hell to save us. Should you get ahold of this truth, you too will be compelled to commit your life to Christ fully. Yes, in the beginning, it'll be hard, but you’re alone. The gift of the Holy Spirit it to strengthen you and avail you victory over the temptation of sin, on top of that, you have the perks and accountability from the church and mentors. Now, before I end this blog, I want to invite you to give your life to Christ, rededicate your life or even increase your faith, by saying this prayer along with me. Believer’s prayer Dear Heavenly Father, In Jesus’ name, I acknowledge that I have sinned. I ask that you forgive my sins and trespasses. Lord, I also ask that you help me acknowledge You in all that I do. Jesus, I ask that you come into my heart and be Lord over my life. Father, your Word in Romans 10:9-10 says, ‘that if I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that YOU have raised Him from the dead, then I will be saved.’ So Father, with my mouth I confess and with my heart I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that you raised Him from the dead so that I may live. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen. Lastly, if you said this prayer and have dedicated your life to Christ (or back) by faith you are saved! I would love to hear from you and help keep you accountable in your journey. Click HERE to share the good news! 😊 -- On behalf of Rise Ministry, Inc.
